Just got one of these that's showing a highly ambiguous error light. I've been applying the commands available in the user manual to try to pinpoint the trouble. As usual for these devices, the manual is tantalizingly short of information. For example: I've entered a date and location using the provided commands, and recovered them. But an attempt to erase the eeprom and check the erase gives error 221 prompt. I figured out that error 113 means "say what?" but can't find any error msg chart. The only reference to error 221 has to do with a survey location. Are the date, location, etc stored in eeprom, or is the eeprom bollixed?
Diagnostic probing indicates that the GPS rcvr is somehow not functioning, both by no confidence in the time, no satellites tracking (two different antennas), no pulse on the 1/2pps. The antenna voltage measures 5v open circuit and dig returns normal current. Synchronization state returns POWer up. Presuambly the GPS is simply not responding. So, I guess I'm asking for a guru reading. Is the EEPROM or the GPS faulty? Does the GPS require a working EEPROM to function? Thanks for any possible help...
