Yes many telco racks of old were 24" and as I recall nasa or someone had 28".
That said I did what Bruce suggest some 8-10 years ago. Al panel spray painted to math the 3801 and cut a hole to fit the unit. Not having clever tools lots of drill holes a hack saw and then cleanup with a file. Came out well. I mounted the 2 in series power supplies to get to 36V in the remaining space on the panel along with on off switch fuse and light.
