I keep a magnifying glass handy. Good light helps a lot. I used to be able to see everything on the boards I designed, and even work on them with a soldering iron. Over the years, parts got smaller and pins got closer together. At the same time, my eyes got older. It was about 15-20 years ago when they crossed over. There is another problem in this area. Older eyes can't focus as close. A magnifying glass fixes that. -- These are my opinions.
