R901, on the far right, is shown on the schematic as "air heater". It apparently got hot enough to create a localized thermal runaway in its lead wire. There was ample evidence of arcing. A half-melted bit of wire fell away before I could take the picture. Without that heater working, the lamp is apparently too cold to start.
