Hi, Yes this is indeed the case but the procedure is quite fiddly. IIRC to do this you need to get the lamp in a position where the heat gun can access the front where the pinch is: problem might not be this at all. I would visually inspect lamp and if it looks OK then check everything else including the transistors and 10K resistors as these are much more prone to change value, before you do anything major ask first! Its easy to damage and even if the lamp survives that expensive step recovery diode is static and heat (>150C) sensitive. C-Coil sometimes also goes bad.
