Or a hand crafted conf file with IP numbers ;)

(Let's check which of your systems this is about... Yes, it's "doei", which
I use! ;-) )
I got its IP from the pool and entered it in the conf when I joined the pool
some years ago. It has little hops, little delay (9ms), low offset and gets
its time from a different ST1 then other nearby ST2 servers (all from the
pool). So for an ST3 server, it is a very good time source :-)
I have 7 ST2 configured from the pool (and one from my ISP), keeping eye
on their connectivity and ST1 (preferably unique). Once a configured system
does not respond for some time I check if it's still in the pool and, if
not, replace it by another nearby server. I also replace a server if it has
the same ST1 as others most of the time and the ST1 is listed more than twice.
As "doei" works fine, I never bothered to check whether it is still in the
pool or not.
