[I've been fixing ntpd to handle the pool command when DNS isn't working when
ntpd is started, bug-975.]

The current ntpd tries to get 10 ntp servers. The current DNS for things
like 0.pool.ntp.org returns 5 addresses so that's all that ntpd uses.

Is 10 a good number for ntpd to use? If not, what should it be?

Would things be better for the pool project if their DNS servers could return
more addresses and ntpd would only use 5?

Is the pool project happy having a knob so they can select how many servers a
system using the pool config line actually gets to use? (If you want to
change to 4 or 6, just change the number of servers that you return when
answering a DNS query.)

[Even if we "fix" this today, the pool servers won't be able to take
advantage of the fix until a new version of ntpd gets released and is widely
deployed.]
