Are there any plans to support SFZ directly? It looks like the most
modern and forward thinking sample format available

format. It has the advantage of a human readable definition file like
GUS Patches have, but it is supported by modern editors like SF2 such as
in Polyphone and Linuxsampler.

FreePats is already using SFZ sound banks such as the Salamander Grand
Piano http://freepats.zenvoid.org/Piano/acoustic-grand-piano.html.
