That would be economically extremely unpractical (you know your
patch, other people don't. You have it in git, other people
don't. etc... ).
Anyway, I'd say, if we're rather close to release then it's still
not so close that you couldn't dare this one.
If it were me I probably wouldn't change other peoples' comments or
say Changelog entries in retrospective (unless they were directly
misleading or outdated or some such).
Your decision.
