Curious to know typically how much time should this take. Some clue, like a 
half day meeting with the client, or about a fortnight with a couple of rounds 
of meetings? (Some clients I have met ask about a rough cost straightforward!)

My noviceness, but could not get which existing documentation have you 
mentioned about. Is there some documentation on the existing modules available 
somewhere? Would need a bit elaboration...
