hi all It would be nice to hear the experienced users ideas with regaards to a dilema we have in our company.
we are trying to implement OPEN-ERP in a company operating in the third world. we have a central warehouse which also contains the accounts dept, headoffice etc, where the main open-erp server / postgresql is installed. then the fun starts here... we have retail points of sales (which don't have internet). Here we want to have a "slave" open erp server installed on our simple POS.... we will use a ASUS EEE PC as a POS with a USB barcode reader... cheap and cheerful and works even with no electricity most of the day. we also use the same EEEPC + bluetooth barcode scanner on our mobile VANS as makeshift cheap-and-cheerful handheld PCs... with a full install of open erp. of course these vans have their own stocks, make sales, get RMA etc... then come back to base at the end of the day to synchronise.
