Hello, For time now I have wanted to install Open ERP and configure it for our company in the UK. We are a retailer who buy our products from over seas and sell directly to customers.
I'm just trying to establish exactly how to do this. My thinking was to install the system and use the documentation to aid me with the configurations, although the book is well written I think it lacks 'step by step' examples of configuration. I can live with this because most things we need are pretty straight forward. The frustrating thing for me at the moment are things not working properly. An example here is the UK chart of accounts module, the balances are all wrong. This creates the problem of not being able to testing transactions, you basically can't do any because the figures are incorrect which makes a newbie wonder if it's a misconfiguration elsewhere. Any searches for help result in using bazar for the latest trunk versions to fix things, it's never clear though if these new version fix the issues you have. When I was informed about Open ERP V5 Stable I thought as a product it an it's modules would be exactly that, it doesn't seem to be. Surely chart of accounts modules are fairly crucial to any accounts system and therefore should at least have good quality documentation to help set them up or better still have a working module with zero bugs which can be used as a template to build upon or just to use for transaction tests etc. I have spent so much time on trying to get these accounts working that I haven't yet got involved with customisation of the company which is what I thought I'd be doing pretty much straight away. My question is: What is stable? Is it the website download? Is it Bazar? When do modules like the UK chart of accounts modules get fixed? I have faith in OpenERP but sometimes I find it hard to believe that an Accounts Manager could download OpenERP and implement it like the book suggests. If anybody has Open ERP running an production in the UK I would like if possible to bounce a couple of ideas around. Many thanks for your time, -------------------- m2f -------------------- -- http://www.openobject.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=38409#38409 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ Tinyerp-users mailing list http://tiny.be/mailman2/listinfo/tinyerp-users
