Hi, I have looked at your account numbering and you have 13 positions if I read it correctly. I would suggest that you create a small subset of your accounts and try using it with OpenERP. I think it may work. But I'm not sure you would need all of your current information to be present within the account number itself. Start exploring OpenERP and once you see how it works you may find that just an integer type account numbering would be sufficient.
A module that I created that may be of interest to you is the IFRS accounting module. If you are doing truly serious accounting you will need it. You can find it here: http://www.openerp.com/forum/topic7353.html For proper sorting, it is best if all your account numbers are the same length. And the recent discussion on US Chart of Accounts may also interest you: http://openerp.com/forum/topic12485.html?sid=ce4f5526836b4421b9298622edd1de7c There are a few of us located in the US that have been trying to use OpenERP. Hope you will join us.
