@sraps Thanks for your feedback. But I am afraid I don't quite understand your argument.
Language is used throughout the system but only messages encoded as _("a message") are picked up for translation files. All other text is not picked up by gettext and therefore does not concern us here very much as you yourself point out when you address rvlayi. If people use other languages than English then they are not bothered by the original terms in Awkward English as they should never see them if their translation is complete. Only the translator has problems. But the translator can refer to the en_GB file for better worded messages when in doubt while trying to translate the current English messages. User translations of data in the database (like product names or description) do not show up in the .po files so I think these are not relevant to the problem here.
