There have been several similar questions which have attracted some responses 
(such as this http://www.openobject.com/forum/topic13013.html). I don't think 
that the quality has been fully addressed yet, but Tiny's direct customers are 
probably not complaining about the specific issues you have identified 
(otherwise Tiny would be fixing it).

I didn't realise that version 6 was imminent. Isn't it 5.2 next?

As I understand it, the version number refers to the functionality not the 
quality.
