Thanks for your post.

I agree with you that some hospitals will be reluctant to use Free Software
solutions as Medical today, but it's just a matter of time. Same happened years
ago when companies were reluctant to use GNU/Linux as the operating system for
their servers.... it's just a matter of time. That being said, it's already
being deployed at different institutions, like Peerless Hospital in Nigeria
(see at the end of the message).

Some of the team members of the Medical project work in some of the most
prestigious hospitals, medical centers and research institutions around the
world.

There is an article in the latest Linux Magazine (www.linux-magazine.com) (jan
2010) (http://www.linux-magazine.com/w3/issue/110/094-095_projects.pdf) that
talks about the Medical project and how free software is making a difference in
Health.

Medical uses Industry standards (WHO ICD-10, ICD-10-PCS ). We use some HL7
(look at the drug administration routes) also. So we get the best of them. BTW,
HL7 v3 has not been widely adopted yet....On the other side, OpenERP / Medical
provides the framework to produce good XML data , reports and services to
interoperate with other centers.

We use the latest information on genetics (NCBI) and "disease genes" / risk
factors, as well as a powerful OLAP engine to produce epidemiology and other
statistical research, that will help the promotion of health in critical areas
and prevent the spread of deadly diseases.

Lastly, I would like to invite you to join the project now, by testing,
documenting or translating it, like the rest of the group that is making
Medical a reality today. You don't to wait two or three years to start
supporting the project. There is a lot of work to do now.
