> hundreds of installs per day
Well, unfortunately the marketing folks like to mix number of download of something that is free and true successful install which are a very very small fraction of all that. I remember Openbravo claimed 1 Millions download recently. Look at their forum and you'll understand that you can nearly count successful installs on your hand fingers instead. On the contrary, Magento ecommerce wich is pretty usable, claimed "only" half a million download recently too. Their community suggest that the number of real users is at least several orders of magnitude larger. Conclusion: investors and marking folks love to hear about number of download big figures. The reality is way more subtle. Estimating forum traffic and % of posts from third party experts is indeed already much closer to the reality. For OpenERP, you should also take in consideration: - the #openobject irc channel - experts exchanging daily in real time on Twitter http://search.twitter.com/search?q=openerp - the Launchpad bug tracker - the experts mailing lists http://www.akretion.com/en/blog/2009/12/28/scaling-openerps-community-to-the-world/ But yeah, overall, while usable, the truth is that OpenERP is still a niche ERP that's still reserved to an IT elite with a compatible business, but worldwide this is already a growing mass. ------------------------ Raphaël Valyi CEO and OpenERP consultant at http://www.akretion.com -------------------- m2f -------------------- -- http://www.openobject.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=58025#58025 -------------------- m2f --------------------
