Hello, this is exactly the kind of OpenERP / ecommerce projects we use to do for our customers (I'm the co-author of the Magento connector + a few useful modules here). See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gH4AN5p9YKI&fmt=22 (and this is already out of date as we are now being a lot better, working with OpenERP v6, launching Kettle transfo directly from OpenERP with clicks or as cron tasks etc) We use TerminatOOOR, the Magento / Kettle connector as Kettle connects to almost anything so makes it easier when you say (amazon, ebay, half.com, etc, play.com, etc.) Your project is perfectly doable (but depends by who of course). learn (from code/forum/mailing lists for now as low resource mean hardcore open source) the base_external_referentials and base_sale_multichannels extra addons we built, they are exactly aimed at that kind of multi-channels sales. Make sure you learn OpenERP too, it's a steep learning curve though. You are right, OpenERP is probably the best citizen here and it needs to be the master as you suggests. Pushing inventory to Magento is what magentoerpconnect does. You could eventually contact us too, but we are pretty busy in the coming months, or may just for the overall architecture if you like (or book us for later). Else everything we do is GPL open source, it's just about being good enough to put the different pieces together in an evolving, complex and buggy environment.
