The AD5242 datasheet -- the chip which motivated me to write the I2C driver -- reads:

"It has a 7-bit slave address and an R/W Bit. The 5 MSBs are 01011 and the following two bits are determined by the state of the AD0 and AD1 {ins of the device."

From this, I interpreted the "address" as 01011XXR.

I'm not saying this is the right interpretation, merely how I read it.
