so maybe I should upgrade? I don't need > 255 node support, will only be
using about 40. also, the error came up using just 3 motes.

no

the modifications to the multihop oscilloscope app are minimal -
basically the data structure is modified only, as it is sending data
from 3 sensors instead of one. but nothing else is changed. (and I do
get the same problem with the 'stock' multihop oscilloscope application)
