The most common way is to attach a series resistor into the power feed.
This is easiest to accomplish by soldering a 1ohm resistor to a
double-sided piece of circuit board and stuffing it between the battery
terminal and holder contact. After that, measure the voltage over the
resistor with an oscilloscope. 1mV corresponds to 1mA in this case.
Overall consumption can be calculated from the duration and amplitude of
the voltage spikes in different situations.
Hope this helps,
Harri

Subject: [Tinyos-help] Energy Consumption in Motes.
I was wondering, of all the activities in this group, How do you guys
actually measure the energy consumption in your motes at run-time ?
