I did think abt that, but once I clock a packet out of the RF230, it should not 
send the same data gain even if there were issues with the SPI timing . Also if 
the packets differ , determining the good packet is gonna require some more 
overhead.   

I have not seen the problem yet after removing the CSMA / transmission retries 
however. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Can you read the same packet from rf230 buffer twice and compare ?
(eg. to check if there is not some SPI timing problem)
(or use some external LogicAnalyzer to verify communication)
