The APA Education Directorate and the Teachers of Psychology in Secondary Schools (TOPSS) are pleased to announce plans for a workshop on Friday, October 19, 2001, at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, CT, in conjunction with the Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Psychology (NECTOP) and the annual meeting of the New England Psychological Association. Dr. Rich Velayo of Pace University (New York, New York) and Allyson Weseley of Roslyn High School (Roslyn, New York) will lead the workshop. This workshop will address strategies for teaching research methods in high school psychology during the morning session. Teachers will have an opportunity to attend programs sponsored through the Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Psychology during the afternoon. The registration fee of $65.00 for TOPSS members ($75.00 for non-members) covers both the TOPSS workshop and the NECTOP teaching institute. Registration includes lunch. Teachers who are not TOPSS members are encouraged to become High School Teacher Affiliates of APA by paying a special price of $95 which covers the TOPSS workshop and NECTOP registration fees and a TOPSS membership for 2002. Participants will be involved in hands-on activities and have an
opportunity for networking and sharing ideas with other psychology
teachers. A tentative schedule for the program is attached. To register
