Of course, a lot of this air of superiority, self-righteousness, and
arrogance, this urge to convert is a belief that one is holder not of a
truth, but of THE truth, THE one and only truth, THE whole truth, THE
singularly divinely revealed truth. Everything else is a lie. He or she
is unable to see the possibilities of several truths respectfully
coexisting with each other.
Voltaire, I think, had it right. The fact that you don't agree with me
and I don't agree with you only proves that you don't agree with me and I
don't agree with you.
