I've seen this claim as well, probably somewhere in _Science_. But considering that this journal publishes weekly, that isn't much help, is it? A web search turned up a more promising source in an essay by Eugene Garfield (the originator of _Current Contents_). It's titled "Research and dedicated mentors nourish science careers at undergraduate institutions" (August 17, 1987) A PDF of the essay is available at http://www.garfield.library.upenn.edu/essays/v10p229y1987.pdf -Stephen ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Stephen Black, Ph.D. tel: (819) 822-9600 ext 2470 Department of Psychology fax: (819) 822-9661 Bishop's University e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Lennoxville, QC J1M 1Z7 Canada Department web page at http://www.ubishops.ca/ccc/div/soc/psy Check out TIPS listserv for teachers of psychology at: http://www.frostburg.edu/dept/psyc/southerly/tips/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --- You are currently subscribed to tips as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
