Well, if you're willing to use books again, you could access a couple of thousand 
books (fiction and nonfiction) -online- at Project Gutenberg 
(http://www.gutenberg.net/).  These are books that are in the public domain and have 
been scanned and edited by various volunteers (guilty!) for many years now.  This is 
an on-going project.  Look at the site; you might be interested in helping out!
