If you are interested in sport fan behavior, I'd suggest checking out the work of Dan Wann from Murray State University. He has done a lot of work in the area. Right now, he and I are completing a study examining both home and visitor fans' perception of home and visitor fans. The hypotheses are based on both in-group favoritism as well as identification with the team.
