It is time to expand our vision of what football teams are and what they
represent. If we take the social conscious angle, we should all be Packer fans,
for they are the only NFL team owned by the community. Shares of the Packers
are spread out over hundreds (perhaps thousands) of owners in Wisconsin. They
can never be bought out, or moved to another city (my theory is that dairy
farming breeds socialism - born out by the fact that the U.S. Senate's only
socialist - Bernard Sanders - is from the other dairy state, Vermont. Since
Vermont has more cows than people, maybe it's the cows that are voting him in.
Who knows?).
Of course, if you want the Cinderalla angle, watch the Patriots. Expected
to be last in the AFC East, they won the division and a bye on the first round
of the playoffs - all with the lowest paid quarterback (I can't imagine the
other quarterbacks earning less than $298,000) who earned the starting role
after Bledsoe's injury (and a 1 and 3 start).
