I suspect that Cynthia Mullis intended these remarks for me alone, but, like Beth Benoit, was caught by new-style TIPS posting. No harm done (no titillating unintended indiscretions for us to enjoy in either case, I regret to say), but I thought I'd reply in public, mostly because I'm hoping to amuse.

But you didn't notice one essential detail about me. I'm a Canuck, and TIAA-CREF means nothing to me. Now, if you want to talk about RRSP and RIFF, I'm your man, not to mention REER, which is the way we say it here in Quebec. But just remember, Canada is the only country in the world that refers to its basic monetary unit as the "loony", a telling comment on our financial system. As well, incorrigible sceptic and debunker that I am, I eschew all financial advice as untrustworthy (although I agree with you that advice from brokers deserves to be treated with particular suspicion). I'm happy in my belief that it's all a crap shoot anyway, so you might as well invest in fun companies. My example of a fun company is a local one which has inserted spider genes into goats, so the milk from these spidergoats can be spun into "biosteel".
