Stephen's analysis is correct. My initial analysis did not notice the Polish
judge's tied marks nor did I know about the presentation superceding the
technical merit for the determination of the ordinal. And I am greatly
relieved not to have to get into Karl Wuench's question about putative
intervals.

Stephen Black concludes:

"So what done us in was the tie-breaking rule. And, apparently, a
crooked judge (see today's news)."

Watch out for the fundamental attribution error! It seems she was a fragile
flower who was influenced by powerful people around her. ;-}
