The most common lab rats are albinos, and like all albinos are color blind.
I'm not as sure about pigmented rats.
Since they are nocturnal animals, they don't use vision as a primary sense,
'tho they can be taught fairly fine pattern discriminations if the
contingencies require it.
Offhand, I'd guess that they are also colorblind ('tho I've never caught a
rat with a mismatched pair of socks ;-).
