Hi Tipsters, A colleague asked that I write with the following query. He is interested as to whether there is any research concerning prejudice/discrimination/stereotypes related to simply names. Note that I am not talking about the research related to popular vs. unpopular/unusual names but rather the fact that names might imply nationality or ethnicity.
Apparently the question came up in a sociology of education class. The student wanted to know whether the name on a class list impacted the teacher's/professor's perception of a student and subsequent course outcome. I don't know of any research specifically in this area. Anybody out there familiar with any related research? Thanks, Linda ********** Linda M.
