These items do titillate a bit, but I use them in my Male and Female Gender
Perspectives class to talk about religious and gender differences related to
divorce practices:

A recent (June, 2001) Muslim court ruling decreed that a Muslim man can
divorce his wife by saying the words on a mobile phone.

This ruling was also upheld for Muslim men in Malaysia and Singapore (July,
2001):

And while we're on the subject, this little tidbit of information appeared a
few days ago in The Christian Science Monitor:

"A husband has the right to beat his wife for disciplinary reasons, provided
he doesn't 'damage her bones or deform her body,' Dubai's highest court
ruled. But it upheld a wife's right to file for divorce if she is injured
'by word or action.' Dubai is considered the most liberal of the seven
members of the United Arab Emirates."
