The 15th annual Southeastern Conference on the Teaching of Psychology sponsored by the Kennesaw State University Department of Psychology will be held at the Northwest Marriott Hotel, Atlanta GA (10 miles north of downtown Atlanta on 1-75) on February 21-22, 2003. The opening keynote address will be by Pete Giordano (Critical Moments in Learning: Do We Know When We Are Teaching?) and Elizabeth Yost Hammer will give the evening invited address (What's Social About Teaching?). Concurrent sessions will focus on teaching techniques and issues in courses such as research methods, environmental psychology, history & systems, learning, development, and introductory psychology. Additional sessions will address topics such as ethical issues in teaching, applying cognitive psychology to enhance long term retention of course knowledge, motivating students, using digital video clips, and an introduction to the Assessment in Psychology CyberGuide. A poster session and teaching idea exchange is also scheduled for participants, including a cash award for the outstanding poster given by the Society for the Teaching of Psychology. The registration fee of $160 covers all meals and receptions during the conference. A special reduced conference rate of $90 is available for high school psychology teachers and graduate students and $140 for each of 2 or more faculty from the same institution.
