I've seen similar stuff elsewhere. It has just the right mix of 
plausibility and outrageousness to make me think "urban (or rural) 
myth". 

I suggest caution. Does anyone have a more satisfactory reference 
than  "Oldest wooden schoolhouse in St.Augustine,Fla"? Actually, even 
if it was posted on the wall there, I still wouldn't believe it. 
Curators at such folk museums are eager to be fooled. It impresses 
the tourists.
