Dear Tipsters,

This new text is written from a neuroscience perspective. For each topic , the
question is asked: what do we know about what is going on in the brain? It is
extremely well done, in my opinion. Some topics that might be expected in an
intro. text are not presented, presumably to keep the text to a reasonable
length and to permit the addition of the neuroscience material. As a person who
always had a soft spot for Hebb's (now Hebb and Donderi's) very slim but
biologically-oriented text, I think that this new book will have a special
niche in the market.

As for the cover, I wonder this: If it is an accurate representation of
reality, is it justifiably affirming the truth? If it is an inaccurate
representation of reality, is it justifiably breaking stereotypes and affirming
minorities?

Sincerely,

Stuart

P.S. I have enjoyed TIPS, but as the signal to noise ratio declines, I am on
the point of unsubscribing. Why even have to spend precious time deleting
peripheral material? I side with Nancy and Don and wish we could reply on
professional judgment to dictate conversations that really impact our teaching,
not devoted to discussing how to deal with one individual.
