Hi Nancy:

Believe it or not, I have found some great sources of slides for powerpoint lectures just by surfing yahoo! Lots of profs have their lectures online and you can access their slides.

Hello TIPSfriends,

I will be teaching a research methods class for Social Ecology majors at University of California Irvine in the Winter Quarter.

I am feeling a little daunted because of the setting and the fact that it will be a 100-200 student large lecture that meets once a week. This is new for me.

I do have use of 3-4 TAs who will run small discussion sections and do all the grading (that's nice!). I am still responsible for my own lectures/class activities and I feel as if (no one has advised me) I should also prepare activities and assignments for the discussion sections.

I am going to get trained in using PowerPoint slides for my lectures before the class starts in January. But I would appreciate ANY help that ANY of you can give me - sources of possible lecture outlines/notes/topics that I can adopt, interactive activities for small and large classes, anything I can use.

UCI is on a quarter system so I will run 10 large lectures and give two exams. The TAs meet with the students once a week at optional discussion sections.

The book I will be using is:

Graziano, A. M., & Raulin, M. L. (2000). Research methods: A process of inquiry (4th Ed.). Boston: Allyn and Bacon.

Thanks for any direction or help you can give to me.

Anxiously,
