Should I give the students the grade they got on the other professor's exam? Should I give them a make-up exam? Should I give them a zero? I would appreciate any thoughts... Aubyn writes... I'll be interested to hear how you dealt with this. I'm not sure what I would do, except that I am sure I would treat this situation as simply a case of two students who missed the Final Exam. This is always tragic when it happens, and I'm sure we all do what we can to help such students while maintaining the integrity of the course. I don't see myself accepting their grade in the other exam under any circumstances. I would feel justified just giving them a zero, but could probably be talked fairly easily into giving them an equivalent make-up exam, with something like a 10% penalty for taking the exam late without prior arrangement (my usually policy).
