I had meant to add this at the end of my last post. Since I forgot,
I'm posting it here, using up my last precious TIPS post today in the
process.

Herrington & Howard (2003), in the current August 7th issue of the
New England Journal of Medicine, commenting on yet more findings
which confirm that hormone replacement therapy is a Bad Idea:

"The lesson is that belief, no matter how sincerely held, is no
substitute for proof in the form of adequately designed randomized
clinical trials when it comes to medical interventions, especially
long term interventions that are being contemplated for widespread
use in order to prevent disease."

And I'd say, for behavioural interventions, too, a caution widely
ignored in psychology.

potential harm--hormone therapy and heart disease. New England
