Dear colleagues,
FYI.
EAST TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY, DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY, invites
applications for two tenure-track positions at the assistant professor
level, beginning August 2004. SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY: must possess or be very
near completing the Ph.D. in any area of social psychology, with an interest
in teaching psychology of women and statistics. CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY: must
possess or be near completing the Ph.D. and have completed an APA-accredited
internship, and should be license-eligible in Tennessee. Involvement in
developing a clinical Psychology PhD program will be expected if ETSU's
governing Board approves a pending request for authorization to develop the
program. Preference will be given to candidates with rural mental health
interests, and qualifications for teaching psychological assessment,
psychopathology, and personality. Successful candidates for both positions
will be expected to compete for extramural funding, establish and maintain
active programs of research involving undergraduate and graduate students,
and contribute to collegiality and good will within the department.
The Department comprises 8 full-time faculty and offers 4 undergraduate
and 2 masters concentrations (clinical and general), serving approximately
300 majors and 30 graduate students. ETSU is one of a limited number of
institutions classified as doctoral research intensive by the Carnegie
Foundation, largely by virtue of its nationally recognized James H. Quillen
College of Medicine, which offers collaborative research opportunities for
psychologists across a variety of interdisciplinary settings. ETSU is
located in Johnson City (population 55,000) and is surrounded by the
beautiful Appalachian mountains. This inspiring geographical region enjoys
a mild climate year-round, and has been ranked as a desirable place to live
by several national publications. Applicants should send a letter of
application, curriculum vitae, representative publications, three letters of
reference, and arrange to have graduate transcripts sent to: Dr. Wallace E.
Dixon, Jr., c/o Social or Clinical Search Committee (as appropriate), P.O.
Box 70649, ETSU, Johnson City, TN, 37614. Review of applications will begin
January 31, 2004, and will continue until positions are filled. ETSU is an
equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
