Sometimes I actually laugh out loud when I read student papers, but then I want to cry. Conversations with them aren't always better. I had a student who routinely made up or misused words--once she meant to say "and blah, blah, blah..." but instead said "and blase, blase, blase..." (since I can't figure out how to give it the appropriate punctuation, it should be pronounced blah-say, blah-say, blah-say). This student has since graduated, but she still makes me laugh, and not necessarily in in a mocking way, but... Carol
