A colleague asked me for info regarding the psychology of Jury Selection.
Specifically: Is there any evidence that would support a Crown challenge to the selection of jury members who have been previously arrested by police, or victims of a crime? In this case the accused is charged for the murder of a police officer in a small community.
The Crown wants to reject some jurys for prior convictions or the experience of being the victim of crime. Is there evidence to support the claims of the Crown that the jury could be biased due to those circumstances?
Cheers!
Jean-Marc
