Mis-attribution, or omitted attribution, such as that at the website http://www.cs.toronto.edu/~moraes/illusion.html is common practice on the web. Perhaps it should be called the "Kurt Vonnegut sunscreen effect". Kitaoka is aware that his creation is being used inappropriately. If you check out his website, you'll find two notices. The first, dated Septembert 24, 2003, provides a download page and gives permission for people to display up to three of his images on a website, provided the site does not contain illegal or pornographic material, and provided that he is credited. His next notice is dated eight months later, and states that the download site has been closed due to illegal use of his work. Stephen ___________________________________________________ Stephen L.
