Beth

At Oklahoma State University (a school with about 20,000 students), we have faculty from all colleges on the IRB, a physician from our student health center,  people from the community ( in particular a minister who does some work in prisons so he has a special role in evaluating proposals with incarcerated subjects), and a lawyer from the university legal counsel. Our chair is a sociologist but is a full-time administrator in charge of the IRB, animal care, and other aspects of research compliance.

        Subject:        IRB Question

Tipsters,

The administration is currently in the process of reexamining the membership
on our IRB.  I would like to gather some comparative information,
particularly from others at primarily undergraduate institutions.

Could you please tell me who is on your IRB (position or population
represented rather than person) and who chairs your IRB?

Please send replies to me and I will summarize to the list.

Thanks,

Beth
