Agreed, best assume that anything you post could come back to haunt you many years later.  Dumping the TIPS archives would not stop your posts from making their way on the Internet, as there are individuals who archive discussion group messages on their own Internet servers.  I have found on the current Internet messages authored by myself that were posted prior to their even being an Internet, that is, back when it was BITNET and ARPANET, there was no "dot.com," and almost all posts everywhere were from university scholars and computer geeks.

Certainly there is no reasonable expectation that anything posted anywhere on the internet will be confidential.
