I believe that Dr. Green should be strictly prohibited from using the term "disseminating" on this list (as he did in his most recent message below), as it is an obvious politically incorrect affront to members of both sexes (but especially men). I would suggest that his message be censored retroactively and replaced with far less offensive language. (OK, couldn't resist....sorry...).

Here (below) I've copied a book review from TLS (Sept. 17, 2004, pp. 7-8) that I think is so important that every teacher everywhere should read it. It is about the making of textbooks (which, as you might have guessed, has very little to do with inspiring interest, or even disseminating knowledge, and am awful lot to do with political pressure groups).

The Scientific Review of Mental Health Practice:

The Master in the Art of Living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his intellectual passions. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him – he is always doing both.
