It works. It's representative. And it allows for the election of
representatives who actually DO represent the views of the voters, since
they don't have to play to the "middle line" as is true of the parties
here in the US.

Except that it is hard to find a political party that represents my views. I am liberal on gun control, environment, gay rights, women's rights. I am relatively conservative on taxation, labor policy, and foreign policy. I am dead center on abortion (i.e., pro choice but anti abortion). Playing the middle line actually works for me because I straddle the middle line....


I can't see how a parliamentary system - in which I have to vote for the entire platform of the party - would end up giving me representatives who better represent my views.
