That is the famous all purpose demo in which you can not only show the serial 
position effects but also show semantic organization (toss and turn are often 
recalled if only one of them is, then it cues memory for the associated term). 
The vonRestorff effect is there (artichoke) and repetition effects are there 
(night). And, of course, the false memory effect. There are several similar 
lists in a publication by Roediger (?) But again, I seldom get a good serial 
position effect and believe me, I have tried everything! Oral, visual, 2 sec 
per word, 1 sec per word, etc. Must be our weird school.......

overall, though, it's a great demo becaue you can kill lots of birds with one 
stone.
