I don't know. Think of Ebbinghaus' kids; I heard a famous cognitive psychologist give a presentation at a major conference APA(?) many years ago (Bower?) who provided the anecdote that Ebbinghaus used his children as subjects. Can you imagine? How tedious and no choice in the matter.
But that is by way of introduction to my thought that when working with your own children perhaps outside oversight is even more important because in our passion for the research we can lose objectivity. And, it should be treated like any other study if it is 'research'.
