I once had a female friend whose surname name was Mann. She went to the trouble of changing her name to Person (which, by the way is the surname of the Chancellor of my present academic post, but which has nothing to do with the story) and seemed content with that. Then she started a small business selling cookies, brownies, and muffins and came to the conclusion that a catchy name for the things she made would be "Mann Made Cookies, etc." If you were in that position, would you change your name back to Mann? She did.
